Venice-Beach LA Slideshow

Venice-Beach LA - Short Slideshow
As the temperatures seared around the low 110's in Bakersfield we dreamed of cool ocean air. My niece is visiting from Washington so we decided to take a trip to the coast.
This slideshow shows what Venice Beach looks like on a Thursday in the summer early in the day.
Not very many people were around, at least not as many as I remember from the last time I visited. Of course some things such as the usual muscle beach gym, surfers, swimmers bike riders and stores remained the same.
The girls didn't want to leave the beach walk but as time passed I realized we still had the entire day at Universal Studios yet to go. I didn't want them to get too worn out too early in the day. They rebelled, calling from the shore begging to stay a little longer.
We trudged back to the car, I rather disgruntled...until I saw an orange and white cat that looked just like my old cat named Jr. That's JR really, named after the billionairre in Dallas. I lagged behind looking at him how he hadn't a care in the world, squinting, staring satraight at me, enjoying his perch atop a wall. It was as if he was saying "enjoy the moment" because soon it will be past.
At that point I realized we already had an excellent day!

Online Dating Secrets | Find Your Ideal Love Partner On The Internet!

Online Dating Secrets | Find Your Ideal Love Partner On The Internet!

I've been thinking about the process of Online Dating lately. Not really for myself but for other people who are thinking about trying it.

The internet is such a vast resource, it seems sad that people are still lonely with all the possibilities out here to find someone. Since 1999 I have been hearing stories about Online Dating disasters.

It started with my neighbor. She was educated pretty, had a great personality but all she seemed to connect with in AOL Personals were "duds" as she referred to them as.

So, I decided that there must be a way to have better success at it. I started researching Online Dating and have finally made an eBook that is sure to help.

It's called Online Dating Secrets. If you haven't gotten anywhere near Online Dating just yet, in a nutshell, it is the way to go for singles of the 21st century!

And for the first time ever, the best invention has been made since sliced bread and the Berlin Wall. Distance is no longer really a question anymore and you can easily search for the opposite sex in the sea of singles from Online Dating services.

Visit the Web page and get yourself, or someone you know who might be struggling with Online Dating.

Sooz58_Your Help On The Internet

Sooz58_Your_Help_On_The_Internet

T.G.I.F.! Hello again from Bakersfield California where the term BAKO is used to describe our town. The temperatures should be a balmy 102 today, increasing to 110 by next Wednesday...the day my niece comes to visit from Mill Creek Washington.

I am excited today because we got Activated to Promote the 1StepSystem

If you follow the link to my actual website Sooz58.com you will see the larger banner for 1StepSystem.

Let me be honest, our ebiz is all spread out and even though we have an arsenol of incredible stuff there is so much of it...it's difficult for each piece of all the puzzles to be in order.

We needed a cohesive system which followed a flawless process for every product, opportunity,eBook...everything, all the way through to make money efficiently online.

Let me explain about 1StepSystem: First you listen to a telephone call. It's Free so no worries there. Then you go back to the Website and follow the instructions. Just take the first step and see how 1StepSystem removes all the frustrations you've EVER had working an online business. You wont have to cold call anyone, get a bunch of software (even though you will be receiving the most awesome ToolBox anyway), keep a stock of product or be staying up after everyone goes to sleep worrying how you are going to make ends meet when you don't want to go to your job any more.

Anxiety While Awaiting for Amazing New Internet Business

Right now I await the money to be credited to a new program we bought yesterday. I heard the training call and the guy struck a chord with me. He said he got into the trades as a temporary way to earn a living until he could figure out what to DO for a living. 13 years later he entered the world of sales.
My story is much the same except I ran out of money as a freshman in college. Slipped on the ice before winter quarter was finished and gagged nearly all my terms. Trying to play catch up, the scholarship I had lost I entered all the wrong classes (like Math 105, a lecture math class) and tried to work 3 jobs to cover expenses.
It just didn't work. So at 18 I got on the list to become an electricians apprentice. This was a 4 year program then (in 1978 -- 1982)with school 2 nights a week 3 hours a night and a full 40 hour work week. For the money it was good, guaranteed pay raises, paid school,a variety of job locations and pretty good conditions.
I was the only female around and it was odd...to put it lightly.
But my Dad was an electrician and he knew everyone so they sort of took me on as their kid sister in a way. Men were pretty open with me about their thoughts on women being on the job, working with them and with tools but I let most of it roll off my back. Kept my nose to the grindstone and it was a pretty good career.
Until 1998, after knee and hand surgeries I was told to not try to go back to the "field" as it were.
I am thinking now this was a blessing in disguise, now that I am doing something I love.
Long story short...the guys introduction call was very convincing and it applies to me exactly. Except I have not gone bankrupt trying to make the Internet work. What this system does is it allows you to use their marketing, their webservers, their sales system (which is awesome) and basically, after 2 sales everything beyond is pure unadulterated profit. I am liking the idea because like everyone else have spend countless hours uploading downloading working on html, and java and quite frankly it would be more fun if I wasn't worried about bringing in the GREEN.
Hopefully I can share this new program with you...when the payments are approved.
Fingers crossed!

That's Why It's Called "Bako"!

We arrived in Bakersfield in September. It was quite warm but on the cooling trend. There were days in the mid 70's and ones around 100 to 105 degrees.
Even though Lindsey's friends parents and neighbors told me "be prepared for weeks of triple digit heat" I believe now that I was not ready.
First we got the blast of a week straight of 105 to 107 degree days with bright sunshine. Then the same temps but overcast and muggy.
Where we are located at the south most end of the San Juaquin Valley surrounded by mountains on 3 sides it seems logical for the cloud cover to delay here temporarily. But talk about a sauna! Wow! I have been in Tuscan AZ, Spain, Hawaii and Puerto Rico but for some reason I felt more in a sauna here during those few days than any other time.
So...now we know why it's called BAKO. For me a NorthWest native of Seattle Washington anything but rain and drizzle is acceptable. I used to say "the warmer the better" and I still do...unless I have to work in it.
By the way, got the lawn mowed this AM before doing anything else. Someone else can clean the pool and maybe work on her Italian tan because you won't catch me out in it. A good afternoon to find a river and some shade or stay indoors and enjoy the newly refreshed AC.
My niece from Mill Creek Washington who is 18 is coming for a visit in 6 days. We are excited about this and plan a trip to Universal Studios in none other than Universal City CA...about 90 miles from here. She will love the pool my sister says because she either goes to the country club pool in their community or the lake nearby every day in the summer. I sure hope we can keep her cool though! Check out the comparison between Bako and Mill Creek~

Detailed Local Forecast for Mill Creek WA

* Today: Sunny. Warm. High 84F. Winds N at 10 to 15 mph.
* Tonight: Generally clear. Low 61F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph.
* Tomorrow: Sunny skies. Near record high temperatures. High around 90F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

* Sunday: A few clouds. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
* Monday: Abundant sunshine. Highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s.

OK Maybe she will do OK. Luckily the temps in Mill Creek are going to be all time highs for this time of the year. Low 90's and Wet Western Washington becomes quite muggy! The higher temperatures will help to condition her and prepare her for for the 10 to 20 degree difference.
Guess just a little worried that she might be too hot and not enjoy her visit.

Busy weekend for Us *News* July 2nd- Bolivians Vote

We had a busy weekend from which still trying to recover. Saturday we drove up to Modesto, CA for Jer's step-grandson's 3rd birthday party. The drive up Hwy 99 is one of my favorites. By the time we arrived it was over 90 degrees. We had a good time, ate rather bland pizza and drank lots of sode.
Linds & I played the driving game that always gives me vertigo, and we watched him open piles of gifts.
It was nice to meet everyone from both sides of their family together in one place and this is a first where we were all there at the same time.
On the return our Wrangler overheated due to a collapsed radiater hose...easily fixed.
We saw a fatality accident which really shook us up. As we drove past the burning vehicle we sad a fella who might not have made it lying face down along side the road.
All of us were sunburnt at some level and it was good to return to our lavishly cool pools water.

Bolivians Share Coca leaves in Celebration

This story caught my eye. Notice the baggie of green leaves to the left. It's a bag of coca leaves being passed around in a celebration for Eva Morales who hopes to empower the poor majority in the upcoming local elections.

Of course these folks have had 'coka' in their country for ever and it is traditional for them to chew the leaves as it has been over the past several centuries, at least.
I look at these beautiful people and thoughts of how they were exploited by violent money hungry consumerism and hope this isn't just another version of it.

Full Story-
Bolivians vote on reform and regional autonomy

By Helen Popper Sun Jul 2, 1:16 PM ET

LA PAZ, Bolivia (Reuters) - Bolivians will elect a national assembly on Sunday to rewrite the constitution, a project President Evo Morales says will cement his leftist reforms and empower the poor, indigenous majority.

Constitutional reform was a key election promise of coca farmer Morales, who took office as the South American country's first indigenous president in January vowing to end 500 years of domination by a white elite.

"Today is the start of Bolivia's transformation," he told journalists, after voting in his home village in the coca-farming Chapare region soon after polling stations opened.

"These democratic changes will foster equality, liberate the people and all the natural resources," said Morales, who nationalized the gas- and mineral-rich country's energy industry two months ago.

Sunday's ballot, which also includes a referendum on greater regional autonomy, is Morales' first electoral test and polls suggested his party would win a majority in the assembly.

He has predicted it would win 70 percent of the seats, which he said would allow "the consolidation of change" including further increasing state control of natural resources and promoting indigenous rights.

But it was the referendum on giving the country's nine regions greater autonomy from central government that generated the most debate in a campaign that produced few concrete proposals and largely failed to capture voters' imagination.

Morales has backed a "no" vote in the referendum, which analysts say could put him on a collision course with the powerful pro-autonomy lobby of wealthy Santa Cruz province, an opposition stronghold.

A strong vote in favor of autonomy is seen as likely in the lowland, agricultural region, but Morales has said the assembly -- which his party is expected to dominate -- will ultimately decide what form autonomy takes.

Early results are expected from 6 p.m. (2200 GMT).

RADICAL REFORMS

Eighty-one percent of Bolivians support Morales, according to a Mori poll in the weekly La Epoca last week, and critics fear his government will seek to stamp radical reforms on the constitution.

Opposition parties have sought to exploit fears about the influence of Morales' ally, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Other government proposals include giving indigenous communities the right to manage their land and resources and administer local government following their traditions.

Bolivia's constitution has undergone dozens of reforms, but this is the first time a reform assembly is to be directly elected. The 255-member assembly will sit in the city of Sucre, where Bolivian independence was declared in 1825.

Constitutional reform is a key demand of the social groups that toppled two governments from 2003 to 2005 amid violence in Bolivia, which has been dominated by a European-descended elite since the Spanish arrived 500 years ago.

The process is likely to be watched by indigenous groups in neighboring Peru and Ecuador seeking similar reforms.

Morales, an Aymara Indian, says rewriting the constitution will mark a new beginning for Bolivia and many of his supporters are optimistic.

"This is a historic day," said Concepcion Hilario, a resident of the rebellious city of El Alto, saying the election was a chance for the country to put its recent history of bloody protest in the past.
